Njegošev park

This is the closest to a central city park that Podgorica offers. Spanning both banks of the river, this park is almost like an oasis in the middle of the city, enabling its citizens and tourists alike to enjoy the many sunny days that Podgorica has. Of course, since the river Morača flows right next to the park, you can also spend some time on its stony bank, and if you are brave enough, even go for a swim. In the park, besides the many banks, there is also a famous basketball court, where players of the basketball club Budućnost, the most successful in Montenegro, sometimes train and place to play table tennis. Also, there are some interesting and hidden features. Weirdly, there are the remains of an old cemetery, as well as a couple of statues and monuments, for example the big statue of Petar II Petrović Njegoš, after whom the park got its name. Next to the park you can also see the Montenegrin National Theater.
